Karen originally trained in Beauty Therapy and Massage at Champneys Health Farm and worked in various Salons and Health Clubs in London learning her trade until I she realised Make up was her passion. As part of the New Romantic club scene she was very lucky to assist the amazing Lynne Easton who was Boy Georges make up artist. She worked on many Pop Videos and shows including Culture Club, Wham and a regular at London Fashion Week. This amazing opportunity allowed Karen to work with many musicians and designers of the time. After this apprenticeship she went on to work in my own right for fashion magazines, catwalk shows advertising and Celebrity shoots including Kate Winslett for Premier magazine and Jude Law for British Vogue to name but a few. Her eye for detail for close beauty led her to work with many hair brands and hairdressers including Trevor Sorbie Akin Konizi Errol Douglas.
Karen has travelled the world with her skill working in Hong Kong and China and her work graced the pages of the first ever China Elle magazine. She also worked for a short spell in Sydney Australia.
With over 30 years experience Karen now teaches others make up and have taught in many of the best schools in London including London College of Fashion and London School of Make up. She teaches a Cosmetic make up artist course for beginners at Southern School of Beauty and have recently designed a Bridal Make up artist course for them aimed at building confidence when working with Brides.
As a make up artist and tutor Karen offers her expertise to hair and beauty salons, teaching therapists to improve make up application and achieving bridal looks.
Karen has been lucky enough to direct make-up students’ photo shoots, which combined a passion of working with up and coming talent and working in a photographic studio.
A love for applying make up never ends, she also has a certificate in cosmetic airbrushing, which she offers to the many brides she works with and recently got back in the studio, working on shoots for magazines and hair clients.
