I love a good hack, clever tips that someone has discovered, making our lives simpler, cheaper, quicker. I have seen some great ones out there via the world wide web. Recently though, I have come across a few dubious beauty ones. So don’t get hacked off
I am a bit of a hypocrite as back in the day working as a photographic make up artist on fashion and beauty shoots I may have done some weird and wonderful things to get the desired look – ‘All in the name of art’ of course. All about the end result for the photograph.
However, I wouldn’t have turned around to say ‘Hey! everyone try this’ more like Don’t try this at home. Haha!
We can all make up our own minds what we think is good or bad, but bear in mind make-up products are tried and tested for the area they are made for and although a clever hack using another product can work fantastically for one skin, eye or lip it may cause an allergic reaction to another.
I am very sensitive and react very quickly to product so maybe just being an old scaredy cat, or perhaps the beauty professional is being over protective. It is always worth taking that moment to think Good or Bad and don’t get hacked off 🙂
A common bad hack and one I am always asked about is setting your make up with hairspray. Just NO. There are setting sprays for this job(bit nervous of these too) or other kinder hacks. Can you imagine doing a beautiful make-up then spraying hairspray all over your face, not only a horrid sticky face but the possibility of an allergic reaction swollen eyes or itchy rash. I know people do this without a problem, but honestly not worth the risk.
A good hack for cooling, setting and refreshing your make up is cotton wool dipped in ice water squeezed dry then patted gently on your make up or I have used Evian spray in the past great when straight from the fridge light spritz don’t touch just let it dry or any water in a fine mist atomizer- great in these hot weather days too.
