Stability Balls to you - Karen Lockyer Make Up Artist

Do you own a stability ball? – I do, but it got locked away (years ago) after my son used to throw himself at it and knock everything flying. However, as we get older and maybe still have ageing parents, stability and balance becomes a top priority.

The lovely Vivienne (61) modelling in the photos is a brilliant Pilates teacher, masseuse and a great advacate for positive ageing.

Pilates

I started Pilates with Viv about 15 years ago, mainly to help stop aching in my hip joints, which I basically have had from childbirth all those years ago, I can’t stress enough how it helps me. It has cured the hip ache, which creeps back if I take time out from my weekly stretching and strenghtening. It has definitely strengthened my core and helped my balance although still very wobbly if I shut my eyes standing on one leg. Try it, it is weird!

Pilates can be done at your own pace and there are classes out there suitable for all ages and ability. I definitely recommend giving it a go.

My motto for many years has been “You don’t stop moving because you get old – you get old because you stop moving”. Pliates and exercise plays a big part in my life to help me maintain movement for activities of every day.

Make up used

Viv is a none make up wearer so I have totally taken her out of her comfort zone. Her neat new crop hairstyle shouted out for a 50’s Beach ball style, which led me to the idea of using a stability ball to compliment the look and Pilates story. I have kept the make up simple, but obviously I had to give her the full 50’s beach babe red lip.

Vivs initial reaction was that she felt a bit like a clown, definitely not used to red lips and bright clothes (I love the look on her, makes a great image.) but I think she warmed to the look especially in the photo.Thanks Viv.
