I love the era of Film Noir movies, infact all the styles of the 1920s and 30s.
When Sam agreed to be my model I thought she has the perfect look for a Louise Brooks inspired image. I have always loved Louise Brooks, a beauty 1920’s screen idol with her short sharp dark hair.
My themed pictures selfishly feed my desire to be creative, but also show how women can look fabulous what ever their age, especially when taken out of their comfort zone. I always strive to do make up that suits the wearer though and never retouch the image. I’m not a pro photographer, but loved creating the shadowy lighting in some of the pics to get that Film Noir feel.

We had great fun and although I took Sam way out of her comfort zone she really enjoyed the process. She used to compete in Ballroom dancing competitions and was up for a challenge. We threw in a bit of Sally Bowles in our thoughts getting in the mood.
A make up artist skill and pleasure is to make their model feel relaxed, have fun and leave more confident than when they arrived. Which was achieved and I believe the more the older women is shown looking fabulous the better for all.

I have created the image with two lip colours the deep red and a full on dark purple, both great for a dramatic look. To soften the look you can tone down with a soft lip colour or a lip tint.
