The definition of Graceful Disgraceful is Be you Ageing Fabulously with No Rules No Judgement and all the women I work with generally say I don’t really want to look younger just fabulous. I find it all a bit tedious when people say ‘oh they look great for their age’ Why not ‘They look great’ .
Lets shout for more natural older women on TV taking staring roles. This would definitely be a positive step towards feeling fabulous as we age. The more normalized this is then it is no longer a thing for anyone old or young. French and Scandinavian TV are not afraid of it and I have to say personally speaking watching lots of foreign language film and TV via Netflix and MUBI does make me feel better about my own ageing. So bring it on.
Marilyn 76 is my model for Not Younger Just Fabulous I had a very strong idea of the image I wanted to create. This is a very different look to Marilyn’s normal style, but she was up for anything. So I slicked her hair back and donned a very red lip and nails. I think a very beautiful image of Marilyn, wishing for a slight nod to Man Ray, in my very non photographer way.

- What is or was your occupation? I have had a Portfolio career! Including colour & style consultant and trainer with the National Trust
- How old are you, if you don’t mind me asking? 76
- Do you do any regular outside activity? Walking
- Have you sunbathed over the years, and have you always worn a SPF? Yes a little, but not in hot climates and yes I do wear SPF
- Do you wear a spf on your face all year round In the winter I have SPF in the foundation I use
Every day or just when sunbathing? Summer most days
What factor? On Face 30+ now, but when I was younger much lower out of ignorance and lack of availability
- Has your beauty routine changed as you have got older? Just the addition of serum
- What is your daily routine and what products do you use? (include brand names) Cleanse, serum, moisturise morning and evening. Liz Earle, Neals Yard, Look Fabulous Forever and some randoms including No7

- Do you think your own life personal stresses has an impact on how you are visibly ageing or do you think it is genetic? A bit of both
- How do you feel within yourself as you get older including health? Very fit with the inevitable aches and pains (bad lower back) More confident and deeply grateful for current life state of health
- How do you feel about the physical signs of ageing when look in the mirror? It is inevitable when you reach your 70’s to have signs of ageing I don’t mind them and they show who you are.
- Have you or would you consider any intrusive anti-ageing treatments? Unlikely, probably not

- Do you think our societies attitude to ageing has any impact on how you feel about yourself? No Not really
- Do you think seeing untouched fun and positive imagery of older women can make a difference to societies attitude on age? Yes

About the blog
There is definitely a lack of positive imagery showing older women out there, although, it is improving all the time. Instagram has definitely helped form a community of pro-age warriors. My aim as a make up artist and positive age champion is to produce some fun, untouched, non- stereotypical beauty images of older faces showing great make up and style. Lots of beauty chat too, on how women of all ages feel about their own ageing journey, their beauty routines and make up experience. Also occasional beauty news and facts.
I wonder if when we look in the mirror our dread of ageing is partly triggered from how we are made to feel in our society. So, let’s try and change that narrative.
